Ecohabit Homes architecturally designed homes feature the unique aesthetic and comforts of a world-class abode, but are better for the environment and better for you.
The word ecohabit is a derivative of two words, ecology and habit. Ecology is the study of organisms and their interaction with their environment. Habit is a word we are all more familiar with. It means an acquired pattern of behaviour. Therefore an ecohabit is a habit formed between the interaction with each other and the environment.
At Ecohabit Homes we firmly believe everyone should experience living in a well-designed home that is tailored around their lifestyle – one person’s ecohabits are different from the next. We spend the time to talk with our clients to understand what they would like to achieve. It is your home for you to live in and it is so important that the home suits you personally, and not others.

Prefab Cottages Exported to Australia from Singapore in the 1850s
There have been many cases of timber prefabricated houses imported to Australia from Singapore as early as 1852/1853 with more going to Hong Kong and California. However the building pictured in Victoria is the only known example in the world on its original site.
Extensive research has been undergone on the house to understand its construction for conservation purposes. This is a very interesting and rare piece of architectural heritage as it demonstrates the early use of prefabricated housing in Australia and throughout the world. In Victoria’s expanding colony, prefabrication was used for its low cost, quick and efficient method of dealing with the need for mass housing when labour and materials were short. It just goes to show that prefab has a very interesting history here in Australia and is an industry that continues to be relevant throughout the centuries!

Kent Corporation Takes Out Design Excellence Award
Congratulations to Kent Corporation. Their recently completed home has taken out the Design Excellence Award at last weekend’s Building Design Awards.
This is a good indicator of how accepting the Perth market has become for alternate building methods.
This lovely contemporary home, built in their factory in Maddington and then erected in Claremont, was built and installed in just 6 months!
A large contributing factor to winning the award is the precision and quality that can be achieved by constructing the home in a controlled environment.
Once again, congratulations to Kent Corporation.
We look forward to seeing more sustainable modular constructed homes in Perth metropolitan area in the upcoming months.Read more
